Qld: Cattle prices spike up to 35 per cent

BRISBANE, Feb 7 AAP - Cattle prices have risen as much as 35 per cent after floodsin central Queensland this week, industry leaders said today.

Australian Agricultural Company chief executive Peter Holmes a Court said prices ata number of cattle sales during the past couple of days had shown steep rises, even inNew South Wales which had missed the rain.

Heavy falls dumped by ex-cyclone Beni in and around Rockhampton, Gladstone and Bundaberg,one of the most intensive cattle grazing areas in Australia, have given some grazierscautious hope after years of drought.
